The Giant’s Stairs

A giant captures a child and takes him away to serve as his page. The child is missing for seven years until he appears in a dream to the blacksmith Robin Kelly, telling the man where he is and that he can only be rescued at a certain time when his seven years of bound service are at an end. At great risk to his own life, Robin Kelly does manage to enter the giant’s territory and extract young Philip Ronayne who looks exactly the same as he did seven years prior. He is still a seven year old boy.
There are so many ways a child can be stolen in Irish folklore. Hold tight to your kiddos if you visit the Emerald Isle.
