I don’t know what that is and I don’t really want to find out
Okay so i know you said you didn’t want to find out but i literally only survived this because i knew what the symptoms were and went to the hospital so i’mma sit you down and explain what appendicitis is
There’s this organ in your abdomen, specifically (and this is important) on the lower right-hand side. It doesn’t do a whole lot. In fact, until last year, we thought it served no purpose (in biological terms, an organ like this is considered “vestigial”). Now, though, we’re aware that it aids in the production of various immune system components. While not necessary for them, the presence of the appendix considerably boosts your immune system.
Sometimes, though, a person’s appendix decides, for no apparent reason, that tonight is good night to fucking explode. It starts as an intense, sharp pain in your lower right abdomen. This symptom is incredibly telling, to the point at which literally all I had to tell the ER staffers was “sharp abdominal pain” and they immediately asked “lower right?” and I just nodded and they let me through.
Appendicitis can be exceptionally dangerous, especially because people will often mistake it for a generic stomach bug or even just indigestion.
