While waiting for her mate to return Adrian spends her days studying the various soft flesh creatures on Erid. It's her job, her passion, and is almost enough to fill the emptiness that's been lurking inside her for over forty years. But during a normal day out in the field Erid government agents whisk her away to help solve a problem of theirs: A strange soft flesh being from another world that's missing an arm and clearly dying. What starts as what can best be described as a 'mild kidnapping' turns into so much more as Adrian decides that studying this strange alien creature also means befriending it. Honestly seeing how the Iron Lung and Project Hail Mary fandoms treat Ava and Eva respectively has been refreshing. Almost every time I've seen a female character have the weight of the world put on her, and are forced to make a "the needs of the many over the needs of the few" call that explicitly fucks over the protagonist on some level, I always see pure vitriol against them online. Not against these two though. For the most part, their respective fanbases treat them with empathy. Even love. It's really nice to see.
