Cassandra Caine for the character asks

First impression: Wow, a demure and quiet pretty Chinese girl. I wonder why the fandom loves her so much. Fetish much.

Impression now: This girl is one of the funniest characters ever and amazing, give me 500 more runs with her as the main lead. Also I just need her, Duke and Dick to start roasting someone at the same time. It would kill the victim, but it'd be worth it.

Favorite moment: In her solo early when the guy who gives her a letter dies in front of her and she just looks down in horror at him. That was when I knew she was going to be a favorite.

Idea for a story: I really liked her with Xanthe, but I don't know if it was for the location since I'm a folklore and mythology lover, but I do think a nice little solo of her going to Detroit to learn more about her mother and then trying to discover more about Dave Cain's past too to try and reconcile being the daughter or two murderers could work very well with her character. I know the new Batgirl run is doing that with Shiva, but you know how sometimes things feel like they are being written for the fans and not for the character? That's how that one feels to me (I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but there's something to be said about how some earlier works were not subject to fan interaction until afterwards and the growing entitlement of some fans, can affect a work or how it's viewed sadly at time to its detriment.)

Unpopular opinion: Whoever invented the ASL hc needs to take a language class and interact with people who actual use it. It is a language and the fact people use it for Cass because they associate non-verbal with non-language is horrendously ignorant. Please, please educate yourself as much as you can on sign languages and just learn that it is a language just as much as English or Cantonese is. It does not work with her character, and it just reeks of ableism and as a language and linguistics lover it saddens me how little care her fans have of her upbringing and abuses.

Favorite relationship: Duke Thomas. They are a match made in heaven for my reading pleasure.

Favorite headcanon: I actually don't have any hcs for her. Sometimes when a character is solid enough there's not much you can add to it. I guess the dancing thing, but it is kind of canon. Or the fact that she likes to hold champagne at galas because it's fancy looking and makes a good projectile if needed?

yeah so hi it's me umm I have an announcement that doesn't change anything for you :3

Previously, bee posts with under 1k notes were not considered certified bee posts and I tried to not post too many of those. However, I am running out of those. So I had a thought; isn't the point of this blog to reblog/post daily bee posts? I am not a heritage blog, but a themed queued gaily gimmick blog, therefore, I should be able to post cool post w/out 1k notes as long as it's about bees? ok ramble over that was kinda the announcement thx for listening

Okey friend, a character that’s hopefully easier,

First impression: Oh cute little ki-nevermind white plasterboard teenager.

Impression now: I'm so sorry Bendis and Taylor got their hands on you, you had so much promise and could have had so many interesting ideas. You were screwed so badly.

Favorite moment: Him apologizing to Lex when him and Damian try to break into the LexCorp or when he wakes up on Damian's vivisection table. They really should not be friends but it amuses me greatly. I also haven't read anything with him in it for a minute (Garth, Kara and Kon have been taking about my comic time XD)

Idea for a story: So I am a very, very petty person and just do not like teen!Jon (not his fault, I blame his writers and editors more than him), and so I'm actually plotting something that involves Kid!Jon and Teen!Jon as separate characters. Basically KJ wasn't stuck in a time warp loopity doo, but was instead just straight up kidnapped by Ultraman and TJ is Ultraman's son (not sure on the mother but I can also see that monster raping women for an experiment to make as many kids as he can) and he obviously tortured both for being good guys but they manage to escape and TJ didn't realize that KJ was caught again during the escape and has EXTREME survivor's guilt and ends up just thinking maybe he hallucinated KJ cause he can't live with himself abandoning a kid. Meanwhile KJ is stuck in Ultraman's grip and when I say tortured for trying to escape, I'm being nice. Showing KJ all of TJ's life so he knows what he's missing and seeing himself being forgotten by those who claimed to have loved him through some comic BS that Ultraman did with TJ so he sees everything TJ sees and does and I mean that in the grossest way possible. Ultraman is evil, lets cooks with the trauma. Eventually KJ escapes and comes back to his Earth with a meteoric super punch to TJ's face causing a LOT of damage. The rest of it is TJ trying to reconcile his guilt and KJ trying to learn to forgive TJ cause it was an accident on his part cause he thought he did escape, and also trying to get over his newfounded fear of his father since Clark and Ultraman look identical. This also just is because I think Ma and Pa Kent should have all the grandkids possible, resulting in 4 different Kon clones, but I blame DC for that more than the HC. Also Karen Star gets to take KJ and the twins shopping and I think that is montage worthy of credit card swipes so she can flex her wealth a bit for fun.

Unpopular opinion: I think Teen!Jon could be interesting if people actually wanted to take risks with him. And just let him cheat on Jay with that blond thief from the future. Such a better character. Or let him meet a cute girl or something, just get him away from Jay, he sucks.

Favorite relationship: Damian Wayne. Not even a contest. There's also really not much competition.

Favorite headcanon: I mean I have a (apparently convulted) au for the Supers, but him hating his older self for abandoning him, being scared of Clark for being identical in appearance to his abuser, being angry and jealous of the adopted kids for being replacements for him and trying to not feel guilty about it and is just going through the emotional ringer and prefers spending time with Kara, two of the Kons and Karen and his grandparents over being at him. Also major momma's boy.

I'm alive and I do have panels to post, but I have been working on a Christmas gift for my brother (yes I do need to start this early on it), spent three hours trying to get Glassdoor to not suck (did not work and waste of a day), been playing Hades 2 and Castlevania: Circle of the Moon and trying to farm SQ in FGO to get that freaking dog caster. Good news, that banner ends soon and I'll try to queue up the ones I have cause I feel bad having them and just not posting.

Character:

Timothy Jackson Drake

Oh boy, time to get cancelled.

First impression: Wow, this character is boring. I don't get why people like him so much. (YJ98. He literally left no impression on me. Tbf neither did Kon or Cassie really, but they did grow on me positively.)

Impression now: I know it's because of Dixon being Dixon, but Tim will never not read as a misogynist to me. Other characters have had some awful writing, but Tim and Ollie are the two whose books I've read whose bad writing just will not leave my brain and it colors everything I see with them. Also him refusing to call people by codenames in his solo and it almost always being Steph and Helena just adds to it. Then they did the bisexual thing with him (which I have absolutely no issue with) and then they just forgot he was currently with Steph (which good for her tbh) and how he was with Ariana and Damian at the start and he just comes off as sanctimonious. And as a person who grew up around people like that, he still rubs me the wrong way.

Favorite moment: Either the "Chicks dig capes" or the mask joke at YJ98's campout. He's had other stronger moments, but those make me chuckle still. Also most of the stuff I enjoyed in his solo was him being attacked or from other side characters (why I like Connor Hawke so much).

Idea for a story: The problem that plagues all bat-related characters, he needs to get out of Gotham. I mean it didn't help with Dick, so I doubt it would matter, but I do think a good story for him would be to revisit Red Robin where he was traveling the world. He has a lot to do with cults and I think they should lean into him dismantling them and give him more of thing that differentiates him from the rest of the bats. There's enough random cults in the DCverse that he shouldn't have any shortage of it. But knowing DC they'll just use the League of Assassins again or Court of Owls and honestly, I'm just tired of them always being used with the bats.

Unpopular opinion: I don't like him. Honestly though, how is the hc of him being a junk food eater who only lives on spite and coffee became a thing. I haven read very little of his and am not a fan, but even I know he's a healthy eater and prefers soda over coffee. And he's spiteful, but not in a motivating way, but more of a snarky teen way. Also Tim needs to age up and not be tied to his relationship to Bernard (not kill him, but it's giving codependent and Tim is a very independent character).

Favorite relationship: His and Cass Cain's. Second would be Helena, but the fact she didn't shot him shows major restraint on her part. So yes I get reading them as sibling-coded friends.

Favorite headcanon: From the fandom? Absolutely none, it's a cesspool. For myself, he has absolutely horrendous taste in music and is a D.A.R.E mom from the 90's. And yes the bad taste in music is because of him making fun of Kon for liking hip-hop. White suburb boy pre-Eminmem vibes are strong in this sentient glowstick.
