Only Friends Dream On EP4 | Dean + "Mouthy, aren't you?"
The contrast between these two scenes is *chef's kiss*. It's an example of the hard front Jack pointed out last week. Immediately after he's been punched, Dean's first instinct is to calm Jack. It takes a minute for his brain to catch up with what just happened. And finally the shock sinks in. He's just been harassed and assaulted by a stranger, and you can see his mind leave his body for a moment.
Then in Jack's presence, he's all sweet and pliable again, temporarily alleviated perhaps by the attention. But it's partly that mask slipping back, being nonchalant and feisty about it all. I am losing my damn mind over Mix's performance and all the little quirks he feeds into Dean; the tiny suggestive lift of the brow, his hand anchoring Jack's shoulder/arm, the lil pout after the kiss. It's delicious acting. (Jack's a stronger man that most of us. How he didn't fold sooner is honestly a mystery).
