Notably as well, Irvina does not have a last name and that is because she is estranged from her family. For the Dunmer, family and ancestors are everything but Irvina was and is the black sheep of her family. She never saw the point in it when all family earned her was scoldings and thinly veiled hatred. Her family had built a reputation of being notable mages, Irvina was meant to be the next in line to carry on her family’s storied name, but her talents were never quite up to her mother’s expectations. She could cast but it was average at best and Irvina often chose to supplement her casting with a physical weapon when in combat as opposed to being a true mage. Irvina’s younger sister surpassed her in talent and ambition in every way, becoming her mother’s favorite and earning everything that was once promised to Irvina.
She was the shame of the family and her existence fell into obscurity, outsiders believing the family to have only one daughter after many years of her out of the spotlight. Irvina eventually had enough and fled to Cyrodiil to start a new life, but it did not take long for her to become entangled into petty scams and thievery after losing employment from several jobs. She is a wanderer with no true purpose, indulging in many vices and loses more money than she makes with her schemes by spending it drinking and gambling.
