ANALYSIS OF THE MILITARY FORCES IN SHINGEKI NO KYOJIN
Checking on your own education, character and work - which force would you have been - REALISTICALLY - joined?
The STATIONARY GUARD is for the ones in the world of Shingeki no Kyojin who'd like to have a reliable, good-paid, and honorable job. They are neither as elite as the Military Police, nor as risky and idealistic as Survey Corpse. They do their work day by day, loosing over the years their employee morale, but after anno 845 and it's re-known danger approach and strenghten their organization and foresight planning. I would suggest to say: it is a good middle class thing, a central positon between meaningful work and bourgeois safety.
The MILITARY POLICE is only for the best soldiers, the entrance card to the safest and elitarian living inside Wall Sina. Their loyalty belongs to the King and his government, which makes them the knights among the military forces, though in a protective, mob-controlling and especially conservative way. But due to a lack of duty and tasks there emerges massive corruption problems. Of course, the individual in the Military Police may think different or is ashamed by the problems of his organization. But one can't change the whole organization. Rather disappointed about this, they will develop a nihilistic/ cynical attitude.
The SURVEY CORPS is driven by a high amount of ideals towards humanism, not accepting the human condition in its present state and trying to break free from their surrounding walls. They are definitely the so called progressive or left-winged fraction of the military forces. It's not reason, or crown-loyalty that defines them, but the rebellious believe in the human being as a free and superior creature which should live outside the walls. But joining the Survey Corps means total devotion: As Irivine Smith mentioned the rate of surviving in the outerwall-expeditions are very bad, loosing in 4 years about 60% of their men. It goes even so far that attending soldiers need the morale to sacrifice themselves just for the mission, which shows a big problem about the Survey Corps: the life of one is not that much worth than the case of whole humanity. A family life is almost impossible under these circumstances, and maybe just brings more pain to other beloved people.

((I said I'd do the thing. So I went and did the thing.
I don't know if there are a million other fics now cause of the sudden craze for this AU. But... what's one more?))
