i feel like modern jirving is one of those people who's adamantly against smoking and denounces people who do it despite most of his friends being smokers in some regard. but i also think that something in him changed after he lit tommy armitage's cigarette one day. his brain suddenly couldn't forget how close tommy's face was to him, the small puff of tommy's breath on his hand, the look on tommy's face when he took that first drag of his cigarette, and the way tommy smiled at him, head tilted to the side like a dog, and thanked him for the light. after that day, he may or may not have carried a lighter on him wherever he went, especially if he knew tommy was going to be there.

i'll never be able to forget this shit. it's literally burned into my eyes. like... charlie... ronan... what the fuck... they literally go from holding hands while gorman drags hegarty out of the line of fire to gorman holding and caressing his face while hegarty has a hand against his chest and is holding his arm. ronan and charlie when i fucking get you both.
