Past and Future

Back when I was in the throes of depression, LADYBIRD was definitely hit the hardest– disappointment over a few iffy sketches quickly spiraled into me fully intending to cancel the project. :T

But I recently put some finishing touches on the Episode A1 script, and I feel a lot better about it now. ^^ As you can see, I’ve even started sketching the characters again.

My current plan is to finally release an update on the project on its anniversary…which is next month. ^^;;; So I doubt it will actually be the A1 visual novel...but it will be something, hopefully something with an animated intro. Wish me luck~

Last-minute Valentine’s Day piece is last-minute

…Anyway, lately I’ve been doing a LOT of worldbuilding for Ladybird. Like, for hours every day for the past week…to the point where I’ve come up with all these new characters and events, and now anyone who’s been following the project probably has no idea what’s going on in this picture. ovo;; Basically, the MC Ladybirds eventually gain a human ally, and he and Maeve gradually develop a relationship-- it’s a whole thing and I promise I’ll explain it all eventually. ^^

What really sold me on this idea was Nell’s place in this love story: essentially, it’s a chance to explore a dynamic between an MC and someone else’s love interest; wherein the MC is determined to protect them for the sake of their loved one’s happiness.

Because I’ve never really seen that done before. ^^ I’m sure it has been, but there aren’t any truly plot-centered examples of it that come to my mind…anyway, I just really like the idea of Nell thinking she’s never seen her older sister this outwardly happy before, and resolving to watch over the two of them like a guardian angel. Which will definitely become a necessity, since at this point in the story Nell is a fully-trained killing machine and the Ladybirds are in more danger than ever. Again, I’ll explain it all eventually. ^^;;
