I have seen the notion that Wei Wuxian is terrible at taking care of himself in many Fics and wanted to know if you have insight on where that's derived from. Is it a fanon thing, a misconception, or something supported by the text? Please and thank you!

I believe this became fairly popular just as CQL got popular. It makes WWX... more boorish than he had been portrayed in novel. Which is strange because he himself is practical in action despite the contrary. CQL especially went full in on this to demonstrate how the loss of his core affected him emotionally and made him vastly more brooding over it all, when Wei Wuxian very much convinced himself it wasn't that heavy of a loss in the novel, and really only thinks on it all when he is forced to once the Guanyin Temple interactions take place over a decade later. This goes hand in hand with Wei Wuxian has self esteem issues.
And it's not that he is slobby, messy, etc (he is a top bachelor because he is exceptional in the arts of a gentleman... needing to be a gentleman!). But being bright, kind of loud, talkative and proud of yourself, becomes the above that Wei Wuxian doesn't take care of himself or is broodingly hateful about himself and spirals underneath it all actually.
