Nicholas’ skin was on fire, everything about this was embarrassing when he reacted so seriously in a situation that likely didn’t call for it. The simplest touch and faintest breath, the other was a master with his words and as much as the little thing liked it, maybe this time it had gone too far. He’s filled with shame, pale skin turning bright red that he’s managed to get cornered like this when he knows that Han has no interest in him -- this was just a game wasn’t it.

Car culture mostly eludes me; living in LA now, a place where this obsession is pervasive, I’m reminded of what it felt like growing up in Boston without any real interest in sports.

That said--like entering a room full people all obsessed with the same thing--you might eventually gain a more nuanced understanding of the thing, and then of the obsession.
