They’re insisting we have to “meet” our classes in real time, i.e. every Tuesday and Thursday at 1 pm with live delivery of content. Never mind how many students will be home with siblings and parents and grandparents, completely unprepared to do online classes. Never mind they may not have wifi or enough bandwidth or good cell reception. Never mind that faculty are being asked to learn brand new technologies that we’ve never used and don’t know how to work. Never mind we might have our kids at home or our parents to take care of. Never mind we can provide content in a dozen different ways that allow students to learn at their own pace and when they can.
Nope. We’ve got to follow the “rules.”
