It has to be age, like I said I've been in sooooo many fandoms where the bad guys are the most explored. Like I was in the Teen Wolf and the second Stiles got his villain we all went feral. I was a huge supporter of murder husbands and that had to be the most toxic relationship to exist and it was basically Canon. Like we were all about exploring their faulty morality and now dsmp seem to be doing everything in their power to make their favourite morally right. Stop it, the ambiguity is the best part, that's how you get the most diverse collection of fandom work.
You don't need to remove all of a character's faults to be justified in liking them. You don't need to remove all of a character's good traits to be justified in hating them. You don't need to harass and argue with others to defend the, understandably biased, way you feel.
If the Dream SMP fandom understood these few simple concepts, existing in the community would surely be a lot less suffocating.
