Yk I was just thinking about the Ceremonial Duel (as one does) and how Atem just gave that thumbs up and went into the golden abyss. And he did that knowing that if he looked back, looked at his literal soul mate's crying eyes again, he wouldn't have been able to leave.
#yugioh#ygo#puzzleshipping#yugi mutou#atem#yami yugi#no seriously#after watching the japanese version of dm#or atleast some of it cause I unfortunately can't watch every episode at once#its like it had more of this impending doom of loss that just hung over everything#that the dub didn't have#the dub was about needing to save the world#like they had to make this into a super hero type of cartoon to be palatable to american audiences#but the sub was basically#your best friend#a person you're closer to than you can ever be with anyone else again#is terminal#and you know its only a matter of time before they're gone#this is why i can't be normal about this story because its flavored like a tragic myth
