#is this antisemitic

Hello, question from a goy, I guess this falls under the writing umbrella?

There is a SF book in Russian that I've read and liked and wanted to translate into English so that my English-speaking friend could enjoy it. But, upon re-reading, I have paid noticed a rather... dubious writing choice.

There is a race of bear-like aliens in it, whose original culture is centered around trade and war. At some point a prophet of theirs predicted that they would know much riches and glory if they adopted the culture of "a certain ethnoreligious group". And so, every character that belongs to this species, antagonistic or friendly, acts in an imitation of eastern european ashkenazi Jews. There are also, iirc, no human Jewish characters in the books.

I feel stupid for even having to ask, but that is pretty damn antisemitic, right? Another friend of mine does not think so, but he is also a goy, and i don't have any Jewish friends to ask. Is there any way to translate this in a way that would be respectful to Jewish people, or is it unsalvageable?

Sorry if this makes no sense I'm just trying to understand this thing that just happened.

So I was in my shop class and we were painting, and because my shirt was already covered in paint my friends started wiping their sponges on my shirt, so I said "what, am I now the rag to wipe your paint on?" And then this one classmate said that sounded bad and I asked what he meant and he was like "you know, because you're Jewish? I'm not going to say more than that." So now I'm really confused! This guy has a history of talking about the holocaust, making antisemitic jokes, and in general just saying unhinged things, but I have absolutely no idea what he meant by this one.

Sorry for the caps, very much freaking out over the earlier ask implying they were. I thought they were just old lady caricatures?! Please, internet, don't ruin more fantasy for me.

(I mean, I'll accept it if they are because I am capable of integrating new information but I will be very sad about it.)

hey, so i'm writing fanfiction of a piece of media with a canon jewish character who i happen to headcanon as transfem. i'm not jewish myself, so: would it be weird if her new name was Esther? like from the eponymous book. I wanted to go with something intrinsically jewish. by "weird" i mean i'd like to know if it'd wound up being offensive. really would like to avoid that.

Hi, Japanese literature anon here. I'm a gentile (I can't read Hebrew I'm sorry- such books will be impossible) and I've come to understand that a whole thing in Japan (historically anyway?) was about making Jews an object of intrigue because the conspiracies were 'so cool' (thus philosemitism) but beyond that not too sure, and I'm not sure where to go because I can't find people who've talked about this particular issue even though you get phrases adjacent to New World Order - or even verbatim - in works with conspiracy in it. I have noted that such a phrase was used as a Marvel film title and there was a lot of discussion about it being heavily loaded, while I ran into a whole bunch of contextual weirdness and bias in this game that I played with a music track called 'New World Order', and the narrative feels so obviously 'wrong' especially with the antagonist who has his front of acting like he 'owns an evil secret society' and appears to be 'playing both sides', not to mention is an extremely divisive character seemingly by design, and he and the game itself are unresolved as to 'what their actual truth is'. My biggest problem is no one's talked about Doylist issues quite like this as far as I know, and it's been like this for several years. I'm out of my depth to put it lightly, I feel like I'm going crazy

Hi I hope it's alright to ask this here. I'm not Jewish and wanted to know if this is an antisemitic dog whistle. I've heard that the whole "99%" thing and "top 1% elites" thing was not only statistically false, but is something that could escalate into antisemitism. I randomly came across an organization called "the other 98%" which, I don't know much about them, but am aware that this type of phrasing could very much be an antisemitic dog whistle, changing the usual 99% to 98% due to Jews being 2% of the population. To me it seems like a dogwhistle but I wanted the Jewish perspective on this and if I was reading too much into it or not.
