many of them dont have endings i just sort of stop responding once the other person says something that i dont have response for (like "this" or "real" or something)

i want to know how you accidentally ended up in a cult meeting

ok, so it’s kind of a long story and i think i should preface this by saying:

i cannot confirm that this was a Cult, but the behavior exhibited....cult. 

so if u want to know how i accidentally (but kind of on purpose) went to a probably cult meeting, here we go.

it’s also probably not as cool as ur thinking

ok so back in high school, i got in trouble with my parents for doing things that bad teenagers do (aka i got caught with a beer). so to get on my parent’s good graces, i thought i would go to youth group. not sure why i thought this was, like, a good idea. my parents are atheist. i’m not saying i was a smart seventeen year old.

so i had never even been to church but i was like meh i’ll ask this nice christian girl to go to her youth group with her. of course, she said yes. so i go to the first meeting, and it’s a whole lot of holding hands and singing. it’s cool. there’s whisperings that the youth group leader is sick. (four years later and i still have no idea what he was “sick” with, okay. it’s a mystery). so whatever we pray over him (translation: i thought about the calc homework i needed to do)

the next meeting, same thing. then the third meeting, youth groups from another church join us and we’re going to do a major prayer circle over him. i guess that’s what u do when someone’s sick, idk, i’m still not religious. so we’re holding hands and praying and listening to music and the youth group leaders are all standing in the middle of the circle, hands on the sick leader. they were whispering and i couldn’t hear it so i was like “meh.” and then it got louder and i didn’t understand it. so i was like listening harder, to see if i recognized any words. it wasn’t french or spanish, which are the only two i knew how to rule out. definitely not english. could have been hebrew, but i didn’t know how to determine that and also that didn’t make sense.

so they get louder and louder and i’m like bro. what are they saying. and finally the music is getting louder too and then everyone’s yelling and i’m like oh fuck i’m gonna DIE. and then the music crescendo’d and they stopped their yelling and the sick leader fucking dropped to the ground and when his knees hit the floor his nose started bleeding. and i will forever have this mental image of his blood all over the white carpet while these adults stand around him and speak in a language i do not know.

anyway, i get back in the car afterwards. the girl who brought me was like “cool,huh?” and i was like..... not the adjective i’d use. what language were they speaking????

and this bitch says

“they were speaking in tongues.”

like that was normal

and so i dropped her off at home and never spoke to her again. she goes to the most conservative/religious school in the US now so i guess it adds up (so do most of the people in attendance of the meeting, actually)

and i had totally blocked this from my memory until last year when some girl asked if i wanted to go to her youth group meeting and then it all came flooding back. i was traumatized ok

do you ever daydream about having a best friend that dont actually exist but mean the world to you?? like you visit them in their house and you play music while talking about your own feelings and they're just your best friend but living inside your mind and you daydream all the time about them and cant wait to get home from school so you can fall asleep while thinking about your conversations or is it just me??
