I'm thinking about Isaac and how he is, fundamentally, not the same man who died. Cups didn't bring that man back to life, it created a new life in his body. Isaac may look the same, laugh the same, but she is not the brother that Francis grew up with, the father who Josie lost. She has none of those memories. And yet- she is haunted by that man. She is defined by him. Not just in the way Francis perceives her, but in the way her body remembers. She is strangled by guilt for actions she didn't take, grief for relationships that weren't hers, anxiety over fears she doesn't have. There is a dead man weighing down her heart. And she can't be him. She doesn't want to be him. But he will always be a part of her
