Yes, this is part of the “WIPs that I might never complete” collection.
An AU where Norman and Emma aren’t there for Ray (they might be sent to different plantation). In this AU, Isabella who’s afraid of Ray rebelling and getting hurt (just like how heartbroken she was when she found out the truth herself), is doing her best to control Ray using the Stockholm Syndrome-based technique. She committed herself to always being the most stern with Ray, giving Ray the hardest punishments, while also giving the occasional affection to him in an attempt to make him attached the most to her so he won’t be rebelling. Ray ended up growing up spending most his life trying to impress Isabella because he’s jealous and hurt seeing how other children getting more affection from his mother. In the day of Ray’s shipment, Isabella finally lost it all and embracing out of the blue, telling him that she actually always loved him the most and all she did was for his own sake. Ray then told her that he’s happy even though he knew he’s going to be eaten by a demon later, because he finally got the thing he craved the most all his life (his mother’s love).
