The Mind Plays Tricks // Sybill & Isabella
The chill of the early morning caused shivers to go up and down Sybill’s body as she wrapped her cloak tighter around herself. Her mask adorned her face, hiding wide eyes that searched for any sign of movement outside. Her left hand gripped her wand, knuckles turning white despite the chill. She had a mission to complete, a duty the fates had handed her for this very night. As much as she had confidently accepted her assignment, her heart seemed to quicken in anxious anticipation. This was her first solo mission for Aversio.
She arrived outside the manor, checking quickly for the few spells she knew the counter to. There were a few wards on the house, but Sybill was confident that she could break some of them before entering. Perhaps it would be best to lure her outside? No... the cards had told her that she should have no trouble so long as she didn’t stray from the path. And the crystal ball had only told her to be wary of the color brown. Taking a deep breath, she approached the building.
It was easy to get inside, easier than Sybill would have thought. Perhaps once again the Death Eaters had underestimated Aversio in favor of going after the Order. Admittedly, they had caused a chaos even Sybill had not forseen, putting the order members into a deep sleep and causing chaos in their absence. It was a fairly good plan, one that should be commended. Finally, the Death Eaters were using their minds and not just following impulses.
It’s a shame it would have to end in their death, really.
Sybill whispered an incantation to reveal Isabella’s position and located her with ease. She was upstairs lying prostrate, presumably in bed. It was funny, that she would be caught unawares in the same way they had caught the Order. Sybill stalked through the house, careful to ignore the fine decor of the house. Normally she would turn and gaze upon everything around, but she knew it was imperative to get in and out quickly.
Sybill made it to the room with no trouble, stashing her wand away and picking up her butterfly knife. She knew she wouldn’t be able to muster the frustration or anger to produce a successful killing curse, so muggle means would have to suffice. She had become quite adept at using a butterfly knife, learning many tricks from her travels in the Philippines looking for new methods of divination. She twirled the knife, opening it and holding it in her dominant hand. a quick slice of her throat and she would be done, gone from this world.
Sybill crept to the bed and found a shape lying curled on the bed. Closing her eyes, she steadied herself. The young seer’s eyes snapped open and a guttural cry released from her throat as she charged forward. Whipping off the comforter, she slashed downward, a grim look on her face. It took a few seconds for her to realize that the thing she had slashed was a down pillow. Brown feathers spilled out into Sybill’s hands, her face confused and suddenly fearful.
