Trina: Almost Always Left Behind
When talking about Falsettos, one character is usually disregarded and her emotions aren't taken into account as much. That character is Trina. She is a complex character with heart and soul but some people boil her down to be just Marvin's ex-wife and/or someone who is jealous of Whizzer.
I want to talk about a specific headcannon that undermines Trina. It's a headcannon that I personally like, don't get me wrong, but it also takes away from the whole point of that scene. That is the theory that Whizzer made the hiring sound because Marvin hit Whizzer before. I really like this headcannon but it shows that the fandom is disregarding Trina's feelings. She was the one who was hit. No one seems to talk about Trina's experiences with Marvin.
Trina would've also felt betrayed because Marvin had essentially lied to her for their entire relationship saying that he was straight. In Four Jews In A Room Bitching, Trina is also blatantly ignored whenever she tries to get a word in.
Trina's character proves the point that female characters with equally as complex emotions as the men are often ignored.
