fanfic writing ask let's gooo👏 1 | 12 | 13 | 14 | 16 | 18 | 26 | 38 | 42 | 49 | 51 | 73 | 75 | 77 (okay, way too greedy, feel free to cherry-pick though ofc I'm keen to hear about everything!!)
Lmao bless. Cracking my knuckles and buckling down!!
1. Do you daydream a lot before you write, or go for it as soon as the ideas strike? It depends. I find if I daydream toooo much, I can lose interest in the actual writing part, but conversely if I'm not able to daydream at all, it usually means I'm burnt out and need a break. If an idea pops into my head a couple times, I'll usually start jotting stuff down.
12. Do you outline your fics? If yes, how detailed are your outlines? How far do you stray from them? I do not! I will put ideas and excerpts down in the general order I assume they'll show up in but it's very loose. I do struggle to deviate from my plans for a story though, especially if I've had it in my head for a while.
13. Do you listen to music while you write? If yes, what have you been listening to recently? Not every time but if I need to concentrate or I'm struggling to get in the Zone, then music is a necessity. I try to fit it to whatever I'm working on -- right now I'm being called to Jewel, Tori Amos, and Liz Phair. Classic 90s hot girl depression.
14. What is your favorite location and position to write in? Somewhere soft -- couch or bed -- in a deeply uncomfortable position where like...my legs are up on the back of the couch, I'm laying down, and the laptop is sort of precariously perched on my lap. I don't know why this helps. Blood rushing to my head?
16. Do you write by hand, on your phone, or on your laptop? Laptop. I have known amazing writers who write on their phone but I will never be them. </3 That thing is an iPod to me.
18. Do you enjoy research? Which fic of yours required the most research? I truly, truly do. Perhaps too much. Sometimes to the point that I never get around to writing because I have over-researched and my brain is now soup. (You have to hit that sweet spot where the information feels second nature but you're also not just info dumping everything you've learned.) As I scroll through my fics, though, I think my original stuff is more heavily researched. Though I tend to do a little bit of research for everything regardless, there's definitely less of it in the fic-writing process, and I'll often kind of...reuse research I've done for something else in a fic.
But generally anything set in the past requires a level of research -- a lot of the old Hollywood stuff I wrote, jeez, almost ten years ago or so was quite researched; 'outside saint-denis' had me checking and double-checking maps, release dates, when things were built, if something was available in [x] year.
26. What’s your least favorite part of the writing process? Editing. Bleh. I'll put off finishing something for ages if it's all the editing/rewriting part. Just feels like a drag. Also starting. Terrible to start anything.
38. What is your most self-indulgent posted story? In a way, I want to say something like 'blackwood' because I knew almost no one would read it or be interested in it, so it was truly just for me. A dark, weird little story about minor characters. But a lot of my Buck fics feel particularly self-indulgent because I'm just, like, playing with my favorite Ken doll? There's a soupçon of embarrassment that really makes it feel self-indulgent lmao.
42. What’s your favorite title that you’ve come up with? Gosh I love titles. I feel like I have to give this to something that isn't from a song or poem, which narrows the field considerably. I always get a kick out of the all-caps pulpiness of 'TRIPLE CORPSE HORROR' which I think is a....newspaper headline in the film?
49. What fic of yours would you say is the best introduction to you as a writer? Having to review my entire output like Defending Your Life many times tonight lmao. (Not a complaint.) It's so hard to pick just one for anything! I am going to say 'all of them witches' for a couple reasons: it's closer to my original work in a lot of ways; in general my CAOS stuff is what I feel is the most Me; it's a detail-heavy, dark story about a minor female character; I think it has a sense of humor despite how dark it is; it mixes the ordinary with bizarre which is perpetually interesting to me.
51. Does what you like to write differ from what you like to read? Yeah, though I think I'm bridging the gap. A lot of the stuff I like to read is more out there than what I typically write, imo -- darker, more explicit, less realistic, with more wild tonal shifts and a more camp sensibility. I still cannot give myself over to absolute id in that way. I'm a little too pedantic.
73. What do you tend to get complimented on the most about your writing? I think character voices and little details.
75. Is there a particular fic that readers gravitated towards that you didn’t expect? Well, I already mentioned it, but I didn't think 'TRIPLE CORPSE HORROR' would get much attention since it was for a film almost as old as me that I'm sure not a ton of people have seen, but it still gets random comments fairly regularly. I think it might be the only non-Reader fic in the tag. But even so!
77. Why do you enjoy writing fanfiction? What a question. It's like playing with dolls in a way I've missed ever since I had to give it up. And it's like...when you really love something, it's the closest you can get to it.
Fanfiction Writing Asks
- Ett reicht nicht nur die Alexander-Ionel-Gedächtnisfigur, die da vorne war!
- Ich bin 1 mittelmäßiger Profitänzer, so wie Herr Llambi in der ersten Show gesagt hat.
- Was bist Du???
- Mittelmäßiger Profitänzer...
- Nee. Mittelmäßiger Standardtänzer☝️
may you never forget the night Alexandru was unashamedly fishing for compliments and then promptly got eliminated🤌🤌 (+ did he actually call him Alexander. honorary successor of Andrééé)
Fingers crossed his wife will follow tonight 😘
Mittelmäßiger Standardtänzer, Dancing Dentist, he can do it all! Aber hald nur so mittelmäßig.
(Meinst du den Andi?)
for the spotify wrapped game: numbers 3, 5, 9, 56, 99 🤗
aw yay thank you!! 🤗
3: The Missing Part of Me - Stephen Barton, Frederik Wiedmann (i listened to the Picard season 3 soundtrack so so much when it came out, omg)
5: Gloria - Sam Smith
9: On Top of You - Enrique Iglesias (my middle school banger that i still listen to far too often)
56: Look at You - Rebecca Black (literally obsessed with her album and saw her live she's so gooooood)
99: Morning - Charlotte Lawrence
For the song ask: 3, 10, 14 (😏), 15, 19, 29 & 30!
omg Isabel 🥺💖
3: A song that reminds you of summertime
Nils Koppruch - Kirschen (wenn der Sommer kommt). Songified Sommerleichtigkeit 💛 I've also just had a look at the comment section and it's lovely to see that people still remember Nils and his music so fondly 💞 he really was one of the good ones
10: A song that makes you sad
did you mean: my entire music library. Hmm, let's go with Thees Uhlmann - Immer wenn ich an dich denke, stirbt etwas in mir. It took a while for that song to grow on me, but now it's got a special place in my heart. Especially the lines Ich bin der Letzte mit einem Bierglas / In einer Welt voller Champagner / Die Welt ist von sich selbst besoffen / Aber ich bleib beim Bier just hit differently idk
14: A song that you would love played at your wedding
I mean.... we've already agreed that Böhmi's versions of Señorita and Malle ist nur einmal im Jahr should be played at our wedding 🤣😏 but apart from that, I'd also like to propose Thees Uhlmann - Römer am Ende Roms. It's a song about getting married that manages to reference both Bruce Springsteen and Shakespeare - what more could you possibly want from a wedding song!! And Loch Lomond for the last dance would be fun, too. (I really put way too much thought into this for someone who doesn't really care that much about marriage as a concept lmao)
15: A song that is a cover by another artist
Camp Cope - Seventeen Going Under (originally by Sam Fender) Okay, so I love Sam Fender and I love Camp Cope and the original song is a fucking masterpiece and they managed to make it their own without ruining anything. And the small changes to the lyrics and the way that Georgia absolutely slays this!! And when she sings I was far too scared to hit him / but I would hit him in a heartbeat now..... it feels quite different compared to when Sam does it but it still feels like a punch in the chest, y'know?
19: A song that makes you think about life
Gang of Youths - The Deepest Sighs, the Frankest Shadows I like that this song turns the whole... the human existence (or even the cosmos as a whole) has no objective value or meaning thinking into something that's actually life-affirming. Because it's about creating and ascribing your own meaning and finding value in your life and building relationships with others that create meaning and that allow you find value in each other. And that's definitely an idea that I can identify with. And the line I will stand in the darkness and laugh with my heel on its throat just makes me go feral for some reason haha
29: A song that you remember from your childhood
Blondie - Maria. Let's pretend that a lot of my musikalische Frühprägung didn't consist of the likes of Pur etc I was... 9? when this song came out and it was played a lot on the radio and I didn't understand a single word of the lyrics, but I loved Debbie's voice and it's just such a banger.
30: A song that reminds you of yourself
The Weakerthans - Aside 💕
music asks
"#nadeshda nicht" >> why WOULD you 😭😭💔

32 / 34 / 48 / 49 / 50 / 55 / 62 / 63 / 92 GO!
32. top five favorite vines? Boy I feel like this is a massive unpopular opinion but I was never that into vines and I don’t think I could even remember 5 of them?
34. advertisements you have stuck in your head? Seitenbacher is a running gag in my family. Also replying IN DER TAT! to just about anything. Can’t think of anything else??
48. if you were a fruit, what kind would you be? Ok so with these questions I never know whether you’re supposed to say a kind of fruit you love so you’d want to be that fruit if you were a fruit, or whether you’re supposed to say a fruit that has similar characteristics as you as a person…? My favorite fruit are cherries or mangos but I myself would probably be more like… an apple, like really basic and boring
49. what saying or quote do you live by? Always veering between “…außerdem ist mein Wesen: Angst” (Franz Kafka, 1920) and “Der Weg geht da lang, wo die Angst ist “ (ZDF girl friends, 1995; tho I’m sure Ilka didn’t come up with it)
50. what made you laugh the hardest you ever have? If we’re talking television, I don’t think I’ll ever laugh as hard again as when that dead body burst through the ceiling on Breaking Bad season 1, comedy history truly peaked. Besides that, my brother makes me laugh really hard at least once a week with some message or sticker on Facebook. And watching iconic Genial daneben moments for the first time, such as Castrillo de Murcia or Kirchenorgel von Halberstadt
55. favorite fairy tale? the only fairytales I even like are the ones by Oscar Wilde, I hate the classic Grimm fairytales. And among those idk, maybe The Remarkable Rocket. (Ok yes, because of the frog)
62. seven characters you relate to? Saga Norén from Bron/Broen, Toby from The Office, Gregor Samsa representative for basically every Kafka protagonist, Elena from One Day at a Time, Chidi from One Day at a Time, Joel from Santa Clarita Diet, Willow from Buffy, omg I can’t BELIEVE I thought of 7
63. five songs that would play in your club?
I’d play NOTHING but Merlin the Magician by Rick Wakeman, I Engineer by Animotion, Blue by Eiffel 65, Freaks by Timmy Trumpet & Savage and Modern Talking’s entire discography and it would be an AWESOME club because I’d be the only guest (my favorite kind of club)
92. lamps, overhead lights, sunlight or fairy lights?Fairy lights (+ candles)
