Went out for a botanical bike ride with my daughters. We identified these plants using the PlantNet app. Top-left to bottom: lead plant, butterfly milkweed, wooly plantain, prairie fleabane, harlequin blueflag, white sage, common yarrow, sulfur cinquefoil, annual (common) ragweed.
Ah, bike commuting in Minnesota summer.
On today’s hike, this fellow was kind enough to pose for a portrait. Preliminary googling indicates that this species of dragonfly is known as the Blue Dasher, but I’m not 100% sure that’s accurate based on the pictures I’ve seen. Edit: after further research, I believe this is more likely a male Ebony Jewelwing (Calopteryx maculata), which is a damselfly, not a dragonfly.
“Discovered” some secret dirt road on my way home from work tonight. Squishy sand though, so I’ll have to explore it further with my fatbike.
