A beautiful female dragonfly perching in a dapple of sunlight! I find it interesting how odonates and some other types of insects will actively seek out sunny spots to sit in. Damselflies will pass up nice perches in the shade for a worse one in the sunlight which helps me photo-wise but makes for an interesting behavior. I assume it has to do with their sight, or possibly with displaying their coloration to others, but I'd have to look into it to know for sure. All I know is that this little lady definitely wanted a spot in the sun, and she looks wonderful in it!

This dude lives on my fence post and snipes horseflies all day. He's super aggressive and threatens us when we get in our car occasionally flying into the open car windows to harass us up close. I love him

A female dasher perching gracefully on a patch of bitterweed flowers! This lady let me get some cute, more scenic shots of her on the flower patch and later a close up of her on a different plant. This species is just terribly photogenic. They must know how nice they look when they perch on flowers or other random things!
