Academy Meeting

It was quiet for once in the gymnasium of the Amestris Military Academy. Small wonder at that, it was after dinner and most of the cadets were off enjoying what free time they had before lights-out. One young man, though, was making use of the free equipment and warming up on a punching bag, his strikes sending rhythmic thuds echoing through the large, empty room.

He'd plainly been at it for a while, a sheen of sweat covering his shoulders and chest; his shirt was laying across a set of barbells nearby, likely removed once he started getting hot. Soon enough he stopped, stepping back and shaking his lmbs out before settling into a martial arts stance and beginning to go through a kata. It wasn't one actually taught to a cadet of his level - he was just a first-year, young and fresh-faced with the rest of the newbies - but he'd paid attention to the upperclassmen at practice. Now he went through the motions slowly, carefully, making sure everything was correct in his positioning and posture before moving on to the next stance. Just because they weren't actively teaching him didn't mean he couldn't learn.
