I get contacted by magazines frequently for travel related photographs that they can use in upcoming stories they are running. Just for these occasions I built a stock archive called The California Archive . But today I was asked for international imagery so I got out the ladder and went up to the storage space in my studio to dig thru my older black and white negatives and prints. I have everything marked pretty good so it did not take long to find what I was looking for; Isla Madeira, an island off of the coast of Portugal. I went here to work on my senior project in College but in reality it was a surf trip. We scored. But I did get some great photos and ended up getting them to run as a feature in The Surfer's Journal. That got me an A on my senior project and was a great way to end college on a high note. Thanks to Steve Pezman at the mag for giving a young college kid a chance. Here are a few that look like they could have been taken 50 years ago but in reality it was only 15.
