Tucked away in his studio is a gift that Isobel left while he was indisposed elsewhere. A weathered artist’s paint box, complete with antique gold latches and stencils of some old forgotten painter’s quick samples of his work. A gift she had hidden in hopes that he would come back to her.
My artist,
I can’t give you much, but know that I’d give anything to watch you paint again. (A canvas, not me this time).
Your world,
Iz xo
He walks into his art studio for the first time in what feels like an eternity. Ever since he got back, Elijah's inspiration had been gone. He'd been able to pay bills and buy other necessities simply because there were many pieces that were just lying around that could be sold. But it was time to find inspiration again to make an income. So he flipped on the light switch in the studio and breathed in the air, feeling at home immediately. One thing that was wrong though was the strange box sitting next to his easel. Eli didn't know what it was, so out of curiosity he picked it up and looked at it. Reading the note caused his body to tremor some as the internal war raged inside of him. His brain told him that the slave didn't love him, yet it was actions like these that countered such beliefs. Eli didn't know what to believe, but he needed to clear his head. He didn't need distractions, but one with uneven breathing at the doorway proved to be just that. "Come here P--" Various pet names were all that Elijah referred to his slave as nowadays. It was easier that way. But right now, it didn't seem natural. "Just come here." He didn't turn to look at the door way for his eyes were glued to the note in his hand.
