disclaimer: these are scenes that have literally remained with me throughout all these years and still incite the same dumb squealy reaction i had when i first watched the show. it was extremely hard to narrow it down to 5, i have a lot but for the sake of simplicity :)

I. WHEN ARNAV PUTS THE SILVER COIN IN THE DETERGENT POWDER BAG (episode 102/103)
this is such an underrated scene??? i rarely see anyone bring this up or mentioning it. i remember when i first watched it, i was so moved just because... typically, arnav’s character finds khushi’s beliefs in such trivial things so futile. yet he actually went out of his way, before he had developed a strong sense of feelings for her, just to do something so small to make her happy.
this is truly such a kind gesture to me, not only romantically, but also as a sign that he cares about her happiness. you really get to see how arnav intrinsically is a good person and it just warms my heart so much. this scene has stayed with me all this time, just because 1) it raised my own standards for a partner lol who will entertain even my smallest silly sources of happiness and 2) i like that they show arnav respects the things that make khushi happy, and we get a glimpse of how he’ll be as a future husband.
II. WHEN KHUSHI GETS ‘A’ ON HER MEHENDI (episode 174)
THIS SCENE and just generally the entire mehendi episode... nothing will come close to this for me. i contested between the kiss in this episode and this but... this scene trumps it. there’s so much being communicated in these playful lines and banter, my heart literally sings every time i watch it. i love seeing arnav flirty and khushi flustered yet still holding her ground, albeit poorly and humorously. the dynamic and tension between them at this point... where they’re dancing around the confession combined with the fact that arnav’s trying so hard to put khushi on the spot, IT’S SO GOOD. arnav’s face physically lights up when he spots that ‘a’ because i picture he’s trying to find any confirmation of her feelings and he’s so smug, i love it.
it’s such a fun scene, even my friends who don’t speak a word of hindi who’ve watched it dubbed love this scene. that just shows you how powerful it is lol.
III. WHEN KHUSHI DANCES TO DIDI TERI JETH JI (episode 168)
there’s so much to be said. i looooove the references khushi makes in this song, i will always be so thankful to the writers of this show that they went out and rerecorded the song with changed lyrics to make it fit the scene. it’s so cute and fun, seeing khushi perform this musical-like dance about their relationship and show all these bits and pieces of their interactions.
the bonus is arnav’s reaction. man, i love it, he goes from fuming and “what the” to laughing at himself and just the situation. it shows that the two have come a long way from the moments khushi references in the song, because they’re lowkey looking back it and just finding humor in their old relationship.
IV. WHEN ARNAV GIFTS HER BANGLES (episode 179/180)
i kid you not, this entire bangles thing had me smiling the whole two episodes it spanned. i’ll probably get early wrinkles because i really couldn’t stop smiling for the hour of the two episodes.
firstly, i love that arnav, once again, acknowledges the small things that make khushi happy and goes to get her the bangles. secondly, THE BEATING AROUND THE BUSH just gets me squealing. they’re both so unsubtle and playful, the way arnav’s dying to see if she’s worn the bangles and the way khushi knows that very fact and purposely hides them. and bonus, i just love the look on arnav’s face when he grabs the thali from anjali and walks to khushi, knowing that she can’t run from it now.
V. WHEN ARNAV SAYS “SHE’S BEAUUUTIFUL” ON HOLI (episode 207)
the show mainly takes on khushi’s pov, and we get to see firsthand how she feels for arnav because she goes on those long monologues whenever she’s alone. arnav, not so much. not to mention, khushi is very straight-forward and doesn’t seem to put a front on the way she feels whereas arnav almost always disguises what he’s thinking.
that’s why i love this scene so much. arnav, albeit looking silly and high on bhaang, is so unfiltered for the first time and he’s just blurting out his real thoughts when he sees khushi (plus the reactions from nani and anjali are adorable). finally, we get to see arnav acknowledge that he thinks khushi is so beautiful for the first time??? and it’s so satisfying to watch??? it’s just so nice to see arnav acting the way he would’ve as a husband had the misunderstanding not happened.
