#JackedKirby - Goodbye Len Wein Last night we lost one of the great writers in the history of comics in Len Wein. He passed on at the tender age of 69... and it's a devastating loss considering he is partially responsible for many of the innovations that took Comics through the Bronze Age and into the modern era. Wein had his first story published in 1968 and went on to co-create some pretty important characters: Wolverine, Swamp Thing, Colossus, Storm, Nightcrawler... and he was the writer who brought forth the Uncanny X-Men version of the team that would go on to be Marvel's most popular property throughout the 80s/90s. Wein admitted to being exposed to comics as a teen in the early 60s when spending time in the hospital for an illness. I have no doubt he must have been reading the birth of the Marvel Universe from Jack & Stan. This cover is from The Might Thor #Issue250 from August 1976. Jack was back at Marvel and they had him guest draw this cover featuring the mighty Magog... on a story written by Wein and drawn by Big John Buscema. Even though this is a Kirby tribute page sometimes you gotta recognize other folks who helped continue Jack's legacy.... and it's fitting since Wein's most memorable work was on the X-Men, which was co-created by Kirby and Stan Lee!!! Rest well good sir... thanks for your contribution to our culture!!! #JackKirby #KingKirby #Kirby #Thor #TheMightyThor #LenWein #RIP #KirbyCovers #70sComics #ComicsOfThe70s #Comic #Comics #ComicBook #ComicBooks #IGcomics #ComicsOfIG
