Enjoy the classic taste of a homemade burger with Issy Crocker's recipe. These juicy beef patties are seasoned to perfection and topped with your favorite fixings. It's a crowd-pleaser that's perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients: 1 lb ground beef. 1/2 onion, finely chopped. 1/4 cup breadcrumbs. 1 egg. 1 tsp salt. 1/2 tsp black pepper. 4 hamburger buns. 4 slices of cheddar cheese. Lettuce leaves. Tomato slices. Pickles. Ketchup. Mustard.
Instructions: Put the ground beef, chopped onion, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and black pepper in a bowl. Mix everything together well. Split the mixture in half and shape each half into a burger patty. Warm up your grill or pan on the stove by setting it on medium-high heat. Put oil on the grates or pan to keep things from sticking. Put the burger patties on the grill or pan and cook them for four to five minutes on each side for medium-rare. If you like your burgers more done, cook them for longer. Put a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty to melt in the last minute of cooking. Fry or grill the hamburger buns for a few seconds on each side while the burgers are cooking. Start by putting a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun. Then, add a burger patty with melted cheese on top of each leaf. Spread pickles and tomato slices on top of the patty. If you like, drizzle ketchup and mustard over the top. Add the top halves of the buns to the burgers to finish them off, and serve hot.
