Noiz introducing Clear to video games?

“So you really haven’t played any video games before?” Noiz asked, raising an eyebrow. It seemed a little hard to believe, but then again Clear was a kind of strange guy, a little backwards sometimes.

Shaking his head vigorously, Clear responded, “My Grandpa never had anything like this in his house. Just dusty old TVs and tools and spare parts for things. Noiz-san, can you teach me how to play?”

With a grunt, Noiz tapped the display from his Coil, shutting down the game he was playing, and he straightened up into a sitting position so he wasn’t taking up so much space on the couch. It was technically supposed to be able to fit 3 people, but with his legs sprawled out it would barely fit him and Clear. “Sit down,” he invited, jerking his chin to the now-empty seat besideto him. “The game I was just playing was single-player, but you have a Coil so I can show you a multiplayer game. I’ll send you the file now.”

Clear’s Coil made a sharp ringing sound and he gasped in delight as he opened the display. “Here it is!” he announced in a sing-song voice. He opened the menu to access the message and download the game.

“It shouldn’t take too long to install,” Noiz said, tapping his foot while he waited. “This game is called Pong. Apparently it’s one of the first video games ever made. They recently made it available on Coil so people could play more retro games.”

“The controls are simple,” Noiz continued, launching the game on his Coil. “I’ll show you on mine first.”

“Oh, I see!” Clear exclaimed excitedly. “All you have to do is hit that ball back and forth! That should be easy!”

“It’s really easy,” Noiz agreed, nodding. “Connect your Coil to mine and we’ll do multiplayer now. If you think you’re ready.”

“Yes! Thanks to your brilliant teaching, I can definitely do this, Noiz-san!” Clear’s expression was determined and confident.

“Ok, let’s do it,” Noiz said, starting the game with a smirk.

Clear’s reflexes and concentration, as expected for an android, were incredibly good. Even though it was his first time playing, he didn’t miss the ball once. He and Noiz had an extremely long rally going. Noiz even expected Clear to win, since he wasn’t going to tire out as fast. Pong was an easy game and Noiz could play it for a long time without much effort, but he knew he’d get tired and his eyes would blur eventually and the win would, regrettably, go to Clear.

Suddenly, Clear’s paddle moved in the opposite direction of the ball and he lost the match. “Hahaha, oops! My mistake!” he said, laughing and smiling. “That was really fun, Noiz-san! Thank you for showing me how to play!”

Noiz sat in silence for a moment. He knew full well Clear had thrown that game so he could win. And that was even more embarrassing that it would have been if he’d lost. “I want a rematch,” he demanded.

I'm still amused by the fact that like the entire way down to San Japan I reALLY wanted a blizzard but there were like no dairy queens around, and as soon as we went to that shopping area next to the hotel, there was a DQ right inside.
