To Sun, the numbers on his wrist were something to be ignored. There were more important things to worry about, such as the White Fang and staying a little more under the radar as security tightened further, and he forgot about the clock that kept ticking down. In all honesty, he forgot about it entirely until the day it hit zero. What was more, meeting Neptune was an accident.
He was hurrying, slipping through a crowd in order to disappear. Admittedly, it would’ve been easier if he’d shoved his tail down the back of his pants, but he’d never liked how restraining that was and he wasn’t about to start now. Ducking his head, Sun darted for a small gap, pushing his way through into a slightly more open area. At this point, he wasn’t even sure if the handful of grapes had been worth stealing - he’d already eaten them, and they hadn’t done much to satisfy his hunger.
Pausing to catch his breath, Sun turned on the spot, looking back the way he’d come. As he did so, he bumped into someone, which wouldn’t have bothered him normally, but the following flash of heat in his arm caught his attention. His tail whipped behind him briefly as he let out a quiet hiss of pain, and he spun to face the other - a guy who looked to be about his age, nothing special.
Except he was. Sun could feel it. He reeled back a little, blinking hard. “So… what was that?”
