A bit of an update/personal ramblings:

Hey everyone, it's been a while since the last update, but I promise that I'm working on the continuation of Aesemyr, albeit very slowly.

I wrote a chunk, then I got stuck and then my sitting in front of the computer like a sack of potatoes for over a decade finally caught up with me haha.

To make it short, had to wear a collar for my cervical spine, had to take some shitty meds that made me incredibly sleepy and did not manage to write a single word.

So, if you're reading this, check your posture! Take a break! Walk around a bit! (don't be like me)

Anyway. I've been trying to get back to writing and now I'm finally getting to the most important thing I wanted to tell you!

Starting this Thursday and continuing throughout the summer, I will be posting some short stories featuring characters from both Aesemyr and Yinshan.

Why Thursday, you might wonder. Well, it's my birthday (ugh) and I thought that I could give y'all something as a treat for your patience and for putting up with my horrendous update schedule.

So yeah. This is the post. Sorry for the wall of text.

hi, i really loved your post about being bipolar and i wondered if you could (or would want to) share more about how it feels to actually have an episode? one of the reasons i really wanted an Even season (and would love an Eliot one) is to get insight from their own point of view. no problem if this isn't something you're be comfortable sharing though :)

Hello! I don’t mind talking about it at all, although it’s a tricky thing to explain because a full on manic episode is a singular and immersive experience and once it’s passed, the way you felt kind of goes with it. So you remember the story of what you did, but not necessarily why, just this vague recollection that at the time it made absolutely perfect sense. But basically imagine you drank like six times the amount of caffeine you normally have in a day. And you know caffeine makes you jittery and a bit hysterical but for some reason you drank it anyway, and you feel it start to hit and a bit of you is like OH SHIT but it’s in your system now, there’s not much you can do about it. So you tell yourself it’s only caffeine! It’ll wear off! I can handle it!!!! And look at all this energy I now have!!!! I could do anything!!!!! I suddenly understand the way the galaxy fits together and could absolutely hold my own in a discussion on thermodynamics with the ghost of Stephen Hawking!!!!! You know what? I am going to INVENT a time machine with the contents of my kitchen drawers specifically to go back in time and tell Stephen Hawking I have SOLVED black holes!!!!!! You might start acting on that because you just need something to DO with all this thought energy. Then because you’re so focused on doing this THING you accidentally drink a bunch more caffeine. And you feel yourself tip over an edge where you’re not really in control anymore. There’s something in your system which is. And it’s everywhere. Your mouth is saying things you didn’t mean it to or laughing at nothing and you can’t stop. Your hands get obsessed with things and won’t stop even when those things might be harmful to you. Your body is twitchy and restless, it feels like you’re a passenger in your own experience of living. It feels like it will never end. And you might think things like ‘this is it, this is the one I never recover from’ and start picturing yourself in every asylum, every nightmare horror film psyche ward you’ve ever encountered in popular culture because it’s inconceivable you can go back to how you were before. Normality and your place in it is just gone. The way you think seems irrevocably broken. And all that energy you had for inventing things and understanding things is now focused on how awful and broken and fucked up you are. And then at some point, the caffeine rush, it just... wears off. Like you’ve metabolised it. And you’re left with the wreckage of whatever you did. You’re left with the thoughts. The darkest ones are closest to the surface and feel the most true. And all the sleep the caffeine kept you from catches up with you. That’s sort of how it feels. It can be very scary, but one thing I think it’s important to convey in regard to Even and Eliott (because I know people worry about them) is that although you go through this internal rollercoaster, to you it’s also just who you are. If you’re bipolar, you will probably have been living with this for a very long time before you were diagnosed. You’re kind of used to it. So while an episode is an extreme event, it’s also sort of familiar, it can become normal and even banal. And maybe eventually it just becomes a story of this thing you did one time.

My #eldritchsona is H'btifl, the Glow that Passes, the Walking One, a long knowledge of short moments of epiphany. Their wisdom spans eons through seconds of bewildering conjectures and alarming discoveries. They exist in that short moment of bliss, watching you, screaming serendipitous words no one can hear.

Sometimes, they appear, towering over you, a glowing, vaguely human shape of burning light and stone. Eyes closed in elation rest upon your form. Tendrils of soft quartz grow around you. Somehow, they're always a few feet taller than you, no matter how many times you meet.

When you were a child they could have been your big brother. Now that you're an adult they stand seven feet tall, peering at you from beyond, yet so close. You are beheld. The Glow that Passes does not love, it does not care, does not feel. It simply bestows.

Wisdom dawns upon you as you piece together the last clue and the Walking One withdraws within the stars, watching through closed eyelids. A single word escapes their lips, booming across the universe with shattering truth. You do not ear it, nor do you understand.

Cherish it, the time time you have left, before you do. For now, you are merely beheld. One day, you shall be known.
