People who talk badly about CATS (2019) and who aren’t fans of the musical… complain for all the wrong reasons. Like, no, it’s not too horny. No, there’s not too little plot. No, it doesn’t matter that some cats wear clothes and others don’t, have you never seen a Disney film??? No it doesn’t matter the least bit that some things don’t make apparant sense, and frankly, I don’t care the least bit if you don’t know what a Jellicle cat is. Read some T. S. Eliot. They turned Jennyanydots and Bustopher Jones in vulgar fat jokes, and removed some important characters and their relationships, and that’s literally all that’s wrong with it. At this point, even the cgi doesn’t matter, considering how weird the costumes in some productions look. All in all, the movie is just another CATS production that one might like or not, and the sole true problems are simply in the portrayal of individual characters, in particular Jenny and Bustopher. That’s it. That’s all.
