Read an article the other day detailing a quantum theory that says the preconceptions of a conscious, human observer on the outcomes of a quantum object can singlehandedly force the outcome to be as such.
To try to simplify this as much as possible let's say that there is an arrow that, when observed, can be pointing up or down. When not observed, it is both up and down simultaneously. Just trust me on this okay? Okay. So then we put a human in front of the arrow and use them as an observer. If they have the preconception that the arrow will be pointed upwards when they observe it, it will be. Every time. Same for the opposite. This theory even related the human conciousness to that of a switch.
Now, stay with me for a second. It's hard to define what observation means in quantum chemistry/physics but most people will vaguely agree that whatever is doing the observing does so when it becomes entangled with the quantum object. And. And the implications of the human conciousness being a physical thing that can undergo quantum entanglement is. Uh. Hm.
I. I feel like I've opened the quantum chemistry necronomicon. I've gained forbidden knowledge that I will never be able to forget and there is no going back. Even if this theory turns out to be utter bullshit I will never be the same.
