Do y'all want me to post my filk/space shanty uquiz
a list of issues u have w/ the official translation would be epic yes. tyt if u want tho ik ur busy
So. Oof. This ended up being kind of long mostly bc I felt the need to explain. The tl;dr is a lot of choices ended up being bad within a larger thematic/narrative context, but weren’t incorrect translations Per Se. Most of these are heavily context dependent, but I can’t explain them fully without spoilers. For that reason... if you want to know more, please message me about any of these after having finished. I’ll be happy to explain.
Vaguely in order of appearance. Keep in mind I cannot fully explain some because spoilers but here’s the rundown:
ok so dorky little eleven year old me was extremely into mermaids. like, so into them. i read every book of mythology i could get my hands on, loved the water, etc. i even let my hair grow as long as it could until my early twenties, pretty much because i just wanted mermaid hair.
but the point of this post is that there’s a new tv show called siren and i just watched the premiere and it is about as out there as you’d expect a modern ~dark take on mermaids, but it does have perks. including, but not limited to:
military conspiracy, hunter-of-the-deep-sea mermaids, unexplained allusions to magic?, a hunky dude who loves fish, his cool marine biologist girlfriend, and the overall feeling like someone took an unaired episode of the x-files and turned it into a whole show
it’s got a diverse cast, is technically magical realism, and it’s genuinely pretty good so i’m just throwing it out there that it’s worth checking out if. especially if, like me, you were a dorky little eleven year old who loved mermaids
@yalenayardeen bUT I NEED MY TERRIBLE FATHER-SON BONDING, RACHEL
I NEED HELION CALLING LUCIEN “SON” REALLY AWKWARDLY AND LUCIEN WANTING TO DIE. I NEED HELION TRYING TO GET LUCIEN TO WEAR A TOGA AND SAYING HORRIFYING THINGS LIKE “You get a nice breeze! And it’s so much more convenient to get laid in these; incidentally have I mentioned I invited Elain” WHICH MAKES LUCIEN BURY HIS HEAD IN A PILLOW AND SCREAM. I NEED FEYSAND HAVING THAT THREESOME WITH HELION AND LUCIEN CATCHING HIM THE NEXT MORNING SNEAKING OUT AND BEING LIKE !!?!?!?!?!?! WE TALKED ABOUT THIS STOP FUCKING MY FRIENDS. I NEED LUCIEN WRITING ERIS, WHO’S NOW HIGH LORD OF AUTUMN, LIKE “MY REAL DAD IS THE WORST CAN I COME HOME.” I NEED LUCIEN CONTRIVING TO KEEP ELAIN FROM TALKING TO HELION AT ALL COSTS BECAUSE OH MY GOD, 80% OF WHAT COMES OUT OF HELION’S MOUTH IS INNUENDO AND ELAIN COULD NOT HANDLE IT (he fails. it doesn’t go half as badly as he feared but he’s still mortified.)
I NEED IT
Ren's semblance is a slap to the face.
Not the pharmacy saying my insurance needs to talk with my doctor about why I need insulin
