i think one of my favorite things about the gaslight district pilot isn't the character designs, or the plot, or the lore, or the worldbuilding (although don't get me wrong, all of those things are things i love so much i'm practically vibrating).

it's that within the first two minutes, after getting a somewhat comprehensive framework of the hellscape the world has been turned into, the narrator starts HOWLING like a heavy metal singer about how the place has been abandoned by god and its people are left to rot and decay, all underscored by one of the most beautiful orchestral pieces i've heard in a long while.

and it's fucking fantastic. absolutely perfect tone setting. if that doesn't temper your expectations for what the series is about, i don't know what will.
