Chapter Summary:  Victor is on his way home after a year of living in Agapearia and Yuuri is excitedly waiting for his return. In the meantime, the Katsukis attend a royal banquet thrown by Prince Jean-Jacques.

It’s Inconceivable: Victor in Tights - Chapter 7 Teaser

I’m sorry that it’s been a little while since my last posting, but look for the new chapter on Wednesday. Here’s a little preview - Victor and Yuuri enjoy the midsummer festival together before Victor leaves Hasetsu:

They roam the streets, wandering into shops and stopping by booths, occasionally chatting with the shopkeepers and other patrons. The activity around them grows throughout the day, the area becoming more crowded. As they near the local shrine, tucked away at the end of the main road, Yuuri stops and tugs Victor back, halting his steps.

“Uh… would you mind if we went in? I-I want to get something and there’s also something special I’d like to show you.”

Victor looks over at the building, then back at Yuuri, eyebrows furrowed in confusion. “Of course we can. Whatever you like my love.”

Yuuri just nods and leads them inside. He leaves Victor to look around on his own as he quietly looks through the selection of various omamori available, picking out one suited for his needs. Yuuri pays the donation fee, then pockets the amulet in his yukata. Walking back to Victor, he smiles shyly and takes his hand again, leading him out another door which leads to an area behind the shrine. As they step back into the sunshine, he hears Victor gasp upon seeing where Yuuri has taken him. A large bamboo tree is in the center of the space, hundreds of brightly colored pieces of parchment hanging from the branches.

“Yuuri… wow. What is all of this?” Victor’s looking up and all around in wonderment.

“Those are all wishes. You can write your wish on the parchment, then hang it on the tree so that the wish gets carried up to the stars.”

“How are they all so colorful?”

“They soak them in dye to make them the different colors. It’s helpful in finding your wish later on if you know what color it is. Besides, it’s really pretty isn’t it?”

Victor turns to Yuuri, eyes wide and his heart-shaped smile stretching across his beautiful face. “Yuuri, it’s so lovely. So can we do it? Can we make a wish?”

“Of course Vitya, that’s why I wanted to bring you here. We can each write one.”

Victor smiles widely as the two of them walk over to a table covered in strips of paper. They each select a piece from the pile — Yuuri chooses blue and Victor chooses one in violet.

“So… are we allowed to wish for whatever we want Yuuri?” Victor looks as giddy as a child and Yuuri’s heart swells with affection.

“Anything you want Vitya, go with what’s in your heart.”

They take the quills from the inkwells and lean on the table to write out their wishes. Yuuri writes his in the kanji he’s learned from his studies:

Please let Victor return to me safely.

I was tagged by @narcissuspseudonarcissus and @kanzaki19 to do this. I’ll use this as an opportunity to post a little spoiler for chapter 4 of It’s Inconceivable: Victor in Tights, my Princess Bride / Robin Hood Men in Tights fusion. The chapter should hopefully be posting sometime this week!

Peeking into the dining room he spies him chatting happily with some guests while serving tea, so Yuuri quickly darts towards the family living quarters so as to stash the gift in his room. He removes a burlap sack from his pack and hides it under his bed, arranging the blanket to drape over the side just enough so as to not draw the attention of a certain someone. In an attempt to be extra cautious, he’s also planning to suggest the two of them stay in Victor’s room tonight after their time in the onsen.

Standing up he brushes off his pants, only to be jolted by a smooth yet slightly agitated sounding voice speaking up from behind him.

“Yuuu-riii my darling, you’re home. Why didn’t you let me know?” Yuuri turns to see Victor leaning against the doorframe, arms crossed over his chest and that ridiculous pout of his playing upon his full lips.

Yuuri quickly crosses the room and wraps his arms around Victor’s waist, burying his face into his chest.

It’s Inconceivable: Victor in Tights - World Building

Now that the story is going to get more involved, with more characters and locations to be introduced shortly, I want to give a little background on the world of It’s Inconceivable: Victor in Tights. I’m including a map, which will hopefully be helpful in giving an idea on the geography as the characters travel around. You will notice some labels are [redacted], which is to avoid spoilers of things to come, however please note that this post does mention a few things that have happened up through chapter six, so it’s recommended you catch up first before reading.

The area of the world where the story takes place is made up a few small island countries within the Sea of Galene, all within close proximity to one another. Distance between each is only a few days travel by boat.  

Kingdom of Eroswyr: This kingdom is a melting pot of cultures, as most of our beloved YOI characters reside here.

Yutopia Katsuki is in the coastal village of Hasetsu, along the Gulf of Ebisu. This village has cultural elements of Japan (medieval and edo periods). The walk from Yutopia to the main village is approximately an hour, and travel by horse significantly less.

To the north of Hasetsu is the aptly named Northern Woods, where Yuuri takes Victor ice skating in chapter four. From Yutopia, it takes about an hour to reach the woods by horse.

The King, Queen, and their son Prince Jean-Jacques live in the Capital, which is located in the southern region of the island. The distance from Yutopia to the center of the Capital (where the palace is) is about a half day’s travel by horse, or a day and a half by boat from the port of Hasetsu to the Capital’s port (travel via horse is preferred).

Zamboni Woods is off to the east of the Capital, and it is a dense forest not inhabited by many. It is about a half day’s travel from the center of the Capital by horse.

The areas marked [redacted] will come up in later chapters.  

Kingdom of Agapearia: Small country to the south of Eroswyr. As of the end of chapter six, Victor is planning to travel to Agapearia to live and train as a masonry apprentice under Yakov Feltsman. Yakov resides in the coastal village of Kamome. This village is across the Gulf of Ebisu, the distance from Hasetsu by boat is approximately three days.

Kingdom of Icehurst: Country to the west of Eroswyr. This kingdom will come into play a little later on in the story, so stay tuned, however the distance from the Capital to [redacted] on Icehurst will take approximately four days, and travel between [redacted] and either Hasetsu or the northern coast of Eroswyr is approximately two to four days (depending where one sets off / comes ashore).
