I did. You can’t just… call something a cult because you dislike it and want to start a conversation about it. “Cult” means something. I mean, you can, but you’ll be wrong.

…Particularly, you really shouldn’t just grab a “cult checklist” off of Christian Today Dot Com, that also includes entries such as “dishonoring the family unit” and allowing “permissive attitudes towards sex”, and then say that the wiki can be stretched to include some of the vaguer entries of that list.

The wiki does not actually isolate people, penalize them for leaving, oppose critical thinking, have a scripture, seek inappropriate loyalty, etc. If it does any of these by some stretch of the imagination, it’s like… sure, a joint writing community has a “scripture”, people like it when you like their stuff, whatever. These are normal and do not make these communities cults.

(I… acknowledge the wiki may be guilty of permissive attitudes towards sex, and dishonoring the family unit. I mean, probably? The community promotes the idea that breakfast isn’t real and encourages people to call themselves toasters, so probably there’s something about the family unit too. I imagine OP just googled “signs of cult” or whatever and didn’t think about it too much, but, like, my goodness.)

so i graduated like last sunday and my school wanted me to take a survey so i did and when i got to the end it asked me "what gender do you identify with most?" and gave the options for male, female, other, and prefer not to say... safe to say i love that school
