Chapter 11: The curse of time traveling

Time growled in pain as he forced himself up to his feet. He gasped in shock and pain while stumbling right back to the floor when he tried to put weight to his broken leg. He took few shaky deep breaths and tried again. “You deserve it, you worthless piece of shit. Everything would be better if you just died away.”

Time sighed and slumped. It took him a moment to start to let his gaze check around the room. There wasn’t anything he could use as a crutch so he just gritted his teeth and forced himself to walk. “You’ve had worse. Just suck it up and move.”

He sighed heavily in sorrow when he found Hyrule once again sitting in the corner of the next room. He half limped, half dragged his leg as he approached the younger Hero. “Pixie?” He called in Fairy Language and smiled a bit when the half-fairy raised his teary gaze up. “It’s okay, Pixie. I’m here.” He whispered while with a grimace sat down. “What’s wrong?”

Hyrule frowned a bit at the situation but he didn’t do a move to start to heal his leader’s leg. Instead, his gaze just retuned into Time’s face before sighing and slumping. “I’m just a coward.” He muttered quietly.

Time frowned in worry. “I highly doubt that.” He stated out firmly.

“I run from fights!” The Traveler half growled, half wailed out with a desperate voice.

Time sighed and gently pulled the younger Hero into a hug. “Not what I’ve seen.” He pointed out gently.

Hyrule snorted and shook his head. “Maybe not on this quest but in my own era.”

The Chain’s leader sighed heavily and bit tightened his hold. “That’s different situation, Rulie.” He reminded. “You’re not being chased in here like you are in your own era. You’re not alone in here unlike in your own era. And sometimes it’s better to ditch a fight and face the enemy at another day than die while knowing what you’re leaving behind.”

The Traveler sighed heavily but he nodded in acceptance. Yet, he soon frowned and pulled away from the hold. Time smiled softly at him while gently running his fingers through the younger male’s hair. “You’re no coward, Hyrule. Keep that in mind.”

“You’re right. I’m not a coward.” Hyrule stated out and Time nodded. Yet, the one eyed male frowned and bit jerked when the Traveler locked gazes with him. There was roughness and anger within those eyes. “But you are.” The words came out coldly with anger lacing them.

Time gasped and flinched slightly. “What?”

“It’s all your fault.” The half-fairy growled while his gaze hardened. “You’re just a coward. You can’t stand to face the aftermath of your actions so you keep playing that Ocarina and that one specific song. Each time you’re not happy with the outcome of different situations, you just turn back the time and do things different.” He snapped and roughly jolted Time away from him.

The Chain’s leader gasped and fell to his back while Hyrule stood up. “Have you any idea how many timelines you’ve abandoned? Have you ever thought about how many lives you’ve ruined? You can, at least, count mine, Legend’s and Wind’s lives into there!” The Traveler growled while glaring at his oldest brother.

“You’re a coward, Hero of Time.” Hyrule snarled through gritted teeth. Soon he smirked as his gaze caught the notion of the broken leg of his leader’s. Without flinching he kicked roughly into the injury. Time screamed before shakily bringing his hand over the wounded leg. “If it wasn’t for you, none of this would’ve happened.” The half-fairy stated out and turned his back to the one eyed male before already walking away.

Time slumped and closed his eye. He gently rubbed at his broken leg in hopes of easing out the pain in there. And yet, he couldn’t deny the Traveler’s words even one bit. He had never thought about the consequences of the Song of Time until he had come to this quest. He shuddered as he thought about how many timelines he must’ve left into ruins after each time he had played that song.
