Me, a non USA-ian, watching USA ads during a livestream:

You know. I think my life would be drastically different if my parents knew how to properly give caring encouraging praise. I know it's a culture thing and the whole mindset has been passed down through generations that you shouldn't let kids be full of themselves and praise them often and you should rather point out what they still need to work on so they'll improve more but man. All it's doing is giving them inferiority complexes. They never think they're good. At all. They end up criticising themselves so much others find it annoying and stop trying to compliment them. They feel like they can't share their personal successes that they're proud of with their parents bc the most they'll get is a smile and vague nod and then something like "you need to concentrate on your schoolwork. You could have done ten pages of studying in that time," and it's said like a joke but the child feels so guilty, like their personal enjoyment is an unnecessary distraction. Some parents need to learn how to show Just A Little bit of warmth and kindness and interest in their child. Read the room. Your kid needs you.

lol LOVE the casual hate on business majors for no reason, that I have no way to block because it’s not like anyone would ever tag for it :) really makes me feel welcome :)) totally doesn’t make me hate myself and doubt my own studies at all :)))
