I, a hearing person who likes subtitles just as a preference, shouldn't have to read a subtitle that's obvious nonsense, go back a couple seconds, and listen again in order to figure out what's going on. An accessibility feature should not be the most half-assed part of a professionally made production. Scripted media has absolutely no excuse for not having subtitles or having subtitles that aren't perfectly verbatim. Professional captioning services should be ashamed of the shoddy work that they put out. Captions should be treated as a part of the production, just like filming, editing, audio balancing, etc - and anything that releases with missing or bad captions should be seen as unfinished

I don't know why people attach the words “it's a complex social problem” to cases of colonisers stealing native lands and committing genocide to the native inhabitants. That's the opposite of complex to me.

Israel: A bunch of Europeans who displaced the native inhabitants of a middle eastern region who've been living there for thousands of years. Now the natives like in dire conditions, living under unhumanitarian military occupation while the world apathetically looks on. When the natives fight back, people call them terrorists. The occupiers claim the land is there's since they are the chosen people according to religious doctrine, which is a cunt reason tbqh.

Hawaii: A proud kingdom that experienced the apocalypse as European Christian missionaries brought the horrors of Christianity, rape, murder, and disease to their people, reducing their population by 2/3rds in a span of a few years. Then another white Christian nation subjugated and declared sovereignty over the natives, forcing their hand to submit.

New Zealand, Russia, the Sami, Australia, South Africa, South America, and North America all share similar stories and the fact that these situations are treated as “complex” pisses me off.

It's not complex. Invaders should either go home, or move to a line that satisfies the native inhabitants of the land. Hawaii should be free, Israel should be returned to it's pre-1948 lines, Russian Krais and Republics should have more autonomy and the respective languages and cultures taught over Russian, Sapmi should return to the Sami, all of NZ should bilingual in Maori and the culture taught in school (or some other agreement from the Maori people). But it's just to “complex” because at the end of the day you have a people who believe that they aren't responsible for the sins of their forefathers (despite reaping the rewards from these sins) and who simply don't want to change their quality of life in exchange of common human respect.
