me and my unshakeable love for male characters that desperately want to be loved for who truly are and without pretense because they've never actually had the experience of unconditional love before in their lives or if they had it was ripped from them brutally. Something about them feeling the need to perform to earn love and needing to be entirely indispensable to the people they love so they are not abandoned just hits. especially if they don't know how to do that in a healthy way so they must manipulate either themselves, the other person, or the world to let them stay
