Rambling Because I Feel Emotionally Violated
Oh yeah, that's why I hate going to social functions in Japan.
Because I (along with other foreigners at today's event) suddenly feel like zoo animals on display. A zoo animal that apparently you can sneak pictures of (without my permission) when I'm not looking as if it's not invading my privacy.
Don't get me started on the totally inappropriate skit they did where they made fun of Americans as if we're all dumbasses that enter people's houses wearing our shoes and whine when asked to take them off. Fun fact: in my American house growing up you'd get slapped for wearing your shoes in the house...
And gaijin collectors are fuckin' scary man...they don't understand the concept of "no" @_@
Disclaimer: Not all Japanese people are like this. Unfortunately the event I attended today (damn 約束) tends to attract gaijin collectors: Japanese people who want foreigners as friends and "collect" us like we're a novelty rather than a human being. There are Japanese people out there that want to be friends like they'd want any Japanese person as a friend. I tend to limit my social situations to them (preferably in small groups) because some of these people just completely drain my energy >_<
