(Headcanons#002—Yes seriously, from a girl who is not an artist and can only draw pretty eyelashes for you✨)
Eehh... practice went wrong and now they have to explain to Mommy Mikoto what happened. Have you ever seen an Anbu punished by their mom? Yeah, well—Itachi is still 13 and for some reason his parents didn't like that he was teaching kid Sasuke how to use a bow and arrow. Please, no one asks how it happened... it just happened—not even they know how it happened, haha.

Uniforms
For @itachi-uchiha-week.
I know that Itachi often gets praised for his looks - his face and hair in particular - but I rarely see people talking about his clothes. Most characters' outfits are expressive in some way. They are comfy, stylish, unique, or in some way personalized. Itachi's are impersonal.
If the flashbacks can be trusted, then Itachi has been wearing the standard Uchiha shirt since the age of four.
With only one nightshirt to differ from the usual design.
Itachi would wear that exact combination of black clamdiggers and high-collared shirts his entire childhood long.
And he wore it even as he grew distant from the clan. He was still an Uchiha, so it only made sense to wear their garments. But not as a means of self-expression or out of pride. It was more like a uniform he wore at a time when he was still his clan's member and his parents' child. It was simply an identity.
And he stayed in that shirt even on the night of the massacre, only draping his ANBU gear on top. Another uniform. But one that hid the Uchiha Crest on his back because now he was Konoha's and no longer the Clan's or his parents'.
Then he was in the Akatsuki - but he was also not in the Akatsuki. He wore their uniform, but for the first time ever, it bore a distinguishable article of clothing. A necklace of unknown origins, unknown meaning. But it was Itachi's necklace.
Its design consisted of three disconnected rings, like broken chains, but still connected and held together. For once, Itachi's life was his, but it was also not his. He ended it on his own terms, which was on his brother's terms, and on his village's terms.
But the necklace was subtle, and it only showed itself sometimes, not all the time.
And then Itachi was revived as an Edo Tensei, once again supplied with a uniform assigned by somebody else. But he did not associate with the clothes he wore, and the necklace was still wrapped around his neck, and it was in plain sight.
His life was his, but it was also not his. It belonged to the Edo Tensei, and then his very own Kotoamatsukami.
Itachi spent his life wrapped in and chained by uniforms. And when his life's purpose was not chained to orders, it was chained to the responsibilities he had self-assigned to his being.
