Failed efforts

I tried to make an effort to rally some of the teachers at my work to grab drinks on Saturday. It was originally just going to be myself and two others. Then a third friend tagged along and thank god for that. First we went to a bar called Sin Bin in itaewan. It was busy, bad music and hot and sticky inside. Also very brightly lit. One of my coworkers had friends there and become preoccupied with them. Basically didn’t talk to her the rest of the night which was a bit disappointing. So the other two of us left to meet some more people. We went to Shenanigans which was ok. There was a nice patio outside so it was refreshing to cool off. The other friend who was supposed to have joined us by now was still sleeping around 930-10pm! She did meet us for a short time at the next place. Finally we ended up at JR’s and that’s where I had the most fun. Basically I said screw it I’m a little drunk and bored so I’ll make my own fun! The DJ was playing 90’s hip hop which is my fave! I was dancing to Usher, Montell Jordan and more! Oh how fun it was ( in my head)! the first friend who was preoccupied never joined back up with us.. Oh well! Overall my Saturday night was a busy but I gave it the old college try! Never again though!

In Seoul, we went out to Itaewan, which is notable for being the "foreigner's district". We spent a couple of hours looking for a place called "homohill" which was said to be Seoul's most LGBTQ-friendly districts. Unfortunately we didn't find anything that looked like homohill let alone a hill, and we were slightly disappointed. However, we did find a mosque along with some halal restaurants. Even though I don't practice Islam much, it felt nice to see a small Muslim community in Korea. The imam at the mosque spoke fluent Korean and he gave all of us hope on being able to adapt in a non-English speaking country. Afterwards, we went out for dinner and I had spaghetti with this awesome spicy sauce. Me and my friends also devoured a large selection of side dishes which were also delicious as well. *sigh* I miss Seoul.
