Well, I suppose that we're talking about TFP? I can say I like the "arguing" dynamic in the TFP (Wheeljack quite had the "provoking flirt" with A LOT of different mechs in Prime, that's crazy) but more for a flirt than a serious thing. I can see them like the "we tried, we had a sparkling, we divorce. Yes we still work together and we both love our child, but please no more." from both sides XD. I ship them more in a G1 setting with them creating Dinobots and a more soft frelationship. Buuuuut since I consider Dinobots sons of them in G1, I leave you here some random concept for a disastragic union of the two in Prime. Welcome "Calcaterra*" inspired from 4x4 Jeep Rock Crawler. *is something like "walking the earth", Wheeljack fault.
The child has a very strong curiosity for exploring and repairing (expert in power up gears for traveling)... a sort of globetrotter in the heart <3. Surprisingly, he doesn't inherit neither the grumpy mood of Ratchet or the defiant behaviour of Wheeljack, but has a very gentle manners. His dads sides show up only when he went unheard or argued and after being veery gentle, patience and accommodating :> Then he became a sarcastic piece of shit (and could totally disassemble you in a click). Once he tried to become an iconic figure for Autobots, but went a little wrong.
BONUS: as preframe moments with a very "I don't trust Wheeljack for this, better bring him on work" or "We're going to devorce when you'll get the sparkling stage" moment.
I don't consider ofc nothing of this canonical in any of my narratives, but everybody feel free to use this oc sparkling concept for other creations (fic, comics, draw) ;)
