Suddenly felt compelled to say that if you're writing a fic set in Italy with Italian characters and have them take coffee this is the size of the "coffee mug" they are drinking from:

And it is usually filled with an espresso shot, as you can see in the below pic. The espresso made by a coffee machine is the also the amount you see in the pic. you can drink it in one or two sips at most

Otherwise you can fill the cup with your own moka coffee, and then it can be the amount that you want. usually its around half the cup, but those that take a lot of coffee at once may also fill it to the brim:

Drinking americanos is usually uncommon and those that do usually receive one weird look and some questioning.

drinking one whole 5-poeple-moka alone is generally less weird than drinking "mud water". people would be concerned about your caffeine intake, not about the functionality of your taste buds.

But, what is carbonara?

Pasta alla carbonara is one of the most beloved dishes of Italian cuisine.

Although its true origin is a bit controversial, it is known for being a staple of Rome's many trattorie

Now, carbonara has evolved over time, but as of now a canon has emerged in its ingredients. These are:

Guanciale

Egg

Pecorino romano

Pepper

Any other ingredient is banned from the recipe, additions are not permitted.

Translation of the bestemmia cause it's just too funny. I think I said it sometimes but it's worse saying again: bestemmie are the heaviest Italian curse words and curse directly either God, the Madonna or the saints. They usually associate them with animals, pigs and dogs being the most common.

They are actually a crime (that I don't think has ever been prosecuted in the last 50 years) and very frowned upon (if you say a bestemmia on television you are out of the show). They are also very common swearwords in regions like Veneto, Friuli, Toscana.

This will be a short and random compilation. Italian has MANY swear words. Regions have their own swear words.

This post is btw aided by this site i found, which is exactly parolacce.org

Cause: in italian swear words are called parolacce, which is exactly the word parola (= word), but in its dispregiative form (suffix - accia). Another much more formal and refined word is turpiloquio (coming from some latin im not gonna search, but it meand bad word basically)

Now, random list of italian swear words:

Cazzo and minchia. They both mean "dick". Used as an exclamation, like in english you would say fuck. Minchia is slightly more sicilian btw. Told you every region has their own

Cazzata (but also minchiata). Derivative from cazzo. Used to indicate a very stupid thing. "Hai fatto una cazzata!" = "Ah, you fucked up!"

Cazzone. Guess where it comes from. Literally big dick. May indicate a literal big dick, but usually used to refer to a person that is a big idiot.

Cazzaro, dicker (?). Someone that abitually says cazzate.

Testa di cazzo. dickhead. Used to refer to a person that is a big idiot

Scassacazzi, breaker of dicks. Used to indicate a person that sistematically disturbs others, usually by making messes

Cagacazzo, shitter of dicks. Used to indicate a person that sistematically disturbs others, usually by being too precise when it comes to tasks or syindacating in other peoples lives
