‘the Widow and Baron Chau's tango - er, fight - at the conclave’ - @blueloris
baron chau + her claw ring
So we were talking Chau becoming the next main villain for season 3 but now I'm thinking Widow might be it, especially if she gets her powers back.
I think Chau is basically out for this season. The Widow has dropped the charade to the people closest to her. To be honest I don't think Widow or Chau are a stronger villain than Quinn. I don't think Quinn will die this season tbh. My biggest concern was if Veil died because of the title episode of 2.09 "Nightingale Sings No More" but she's still ok. I was looking at the 2.10 preview and of course it's out of sequence. I have a feeling one of the bombs go off because Sunny and Baji become incredibly dirty and dusty when they're fighting Quinn's men in the bunker. At this point with the place loaded with bombs and only Baji to help him it really will be the fight of Sunny's life and again I say Waldo looked very somber when he spoke to Sunny last. Reminding him of his training etc. It was like a teacher preparing his student for his final test.I don't think Sunny will die @yes-everhopeful but I do believe the odds are incredibly stacked in Quinn's favor with a bunch of loyalists happy and eager to die for his cause. Veil and Henry are locked up someplace perhaps in the room with one of the bombs? With all of this Quinn may not even have to fight Sunny physically when he has Veil and Henry locked up and would rather kill everyone than let them go. Sunny is basically fighting against a bunch of people who already welcome death. When there's no reason to live for people like that then they become the most dangerous. Sunny has two reasons to live and Quinn can manipulate this to his advantage. If the tumor doesn't kick in then Sunny will be fighting a difficult battle but this time it's mental, physical and emotional warfare. Hearing Henry crying in the background that's just enough to set anyone over the edge and off their game.
I’m wondering if Quinn’s obsession with Veil and Sunny’s baby would be as intense if Henry had been Henrietta. It might have been a more interesting story if it had been a female child since Quinn is so male centric. Just my little quirk of an observation.
Veil, whatever you’re doing, do it quickly. You have got to get away from that group of sycophants. Quinn’s megalomania, whether from his tumor or whatever poison she’s giving him, is going to put her and Henry in serious danger. Well, maybe just Veil because Quinn needs a new “son” and heir now.
Poor Ryder, didn’t much care for you but what a shitty way to go.
I’m totally into The Widow and whatever her backstory is. So far we know she was like MK, but probably cleansed a la Tate, and by the time she was 13 she was a cog. Does that mean the monks just toss the kids out to fend for themselves after they’re cleansed? That would be messed up if so.
I find it also interesting to compare The Widow and Jade’s ascensions to Baron-hood. Both cogs, yet one’s experience was so horrific she’ll do anything to tear down the system, while the other embraces it. And of course, Baron Chau and her perspective on the system. Three very different women who have all risen to the top in very different ways.
Now, Tilda and Odessa. I think they’ve done a good job from that very first scene together creating a nice connection between them. It looks like it’ll be another complex relationship like others on the show. I’m a bit worried about Odessa’s motives and with her history, she might manipulate Tilda for her own benefit. But there was one moment in their scene last night were Odessa actually looked a little, I don’t know, in awe of Tilda. So I’m conflicted. I can see that Odessa may end up coming between Tilda and The Widow especially if The Widow compromises in some way, maybe through Waldo’s council, that Odessa sees as a betrayal to the cause.
Next week, another episode that looks like it’ll be really good. Sunny and Bajie making their way, slowly, to the badlands. I’m looking forward to Lydia going after Quinn. Hopefully there will be some interesting Widow/Chau interactions. Although, there are so many different stories on this show each episode one seems to suffer. Sorry to say, MK seems so removed from the interesting storylines, they need to bring him back to the badlands and soon. And, bring on the Tilda/Odessa!
