Summary:

It’s part of what scares her a little, though. Not because of Richie, but because of herself. Why is it so much easier with Richie, but not with Ben? Because, the thing is, she really likes Ben. Ben makes her feel safe too. But it’s a different kind of safe. It’s safe with an asterisk. A caveat. Safe because he wants something from her, and she’s not sure she’s whole enough to give it, or ever will be, and that it won’t be enough for Ben. Eventually, that safeness will get withdrawn.
