Thump thump. Thump thump.
Blood coursing through veins and the beat of a heart plagued her mind-- no, her whole being. Needles seemed to prick every cell upon her skin and hunger so extreme it felt as if she were alight with flames engulfed her. Elena had awoken from her death not with Stefan or Damon at her side, but with Kol’s piercing eyes staring back at her and the sounds of his vampiric body-- albeit with a slower heartbeat than humans-- overwhelming her. She remembered rain and Matt kidnapping her. She remembered drowning and begging Stefan to help Matt. She even remembered Rebekah causing the accident and the irony of that fact she knew Kol would have something to say about that to the other blonde. Yet Elena held no memory of Stefan pulling her dead body from the water or Kol taking her body from the morgue-- him and the doctor Meredith Fell alone knowing what she would become because of his sister’s misdeeds-- at least thus far, for perhaps Meredith had now told Damon or Stefan-- and perhaps they were in search of her now.
And yet here the blonde was, hair still wavy with wetness and eyes scared and confused with transition. She’s a lost puppy, a deer caught in headlights, so vulnerable in contrast to her usual powerful self. This fate has been forced upon her by Rebekah and be it up to the Salvatore brothers her fate could possibly result in waiting too long. Though, time is something which seems incohesive to her presently. She stands without words, head tilting to the side more animal than person as she watches him with strange fascination. She dares a step forward yet stops at the appearance of her reflection in a dirty window-- where are they?
There’s a moment’s pause, Elena seeming to take a step back with the weight of realization flooding her. She’s still ever aware of his presence and her features seemed to change before her-- vampiric features. Her head turns to him, eyes almost begging for blood as she dares a step toward him but stops herself. There’s a certain clarity within her gaze now and with a start she realizes she’s relieved that Stefan or even Damon aren’t here with her now. They both would be reckless in their own ways tempting her in one direction or the other but something told her Kol wouldn’t do that. Him being there-- wherever here was-- meant he knew her better than perhaps they did. He would show her what to do if she chose to embrace this, if not, he would let that be her choice and leave it alone. As ironic as it was, with how much they bickered and battled, she realized that somewhere along the way they had a unique understanding of each other. There would be no pressure and he would accept her choice without throwing his own selfish desires or wishes for her into the mix. These notions seem to play across her features as she dares a step forward and grips his arm cautiously, eyes connecting with his in question as she pauses with his hand inches from her teeth. She knows she needs human blood to fully transition-- even if her emotions are haywire and her mind is still reeling in it’s transition state-- but with this action she’s making a choice and if she’s honest, she doesn’t think she’ll make to human blood if some of her craving isn’t quenched.
